1. Who we are
Ụgwọ ("Ugwo") is a private IOU and personal debt tracker made by NIPPYSKY, a technology company based in Nigeria (nippysky.com). References to "we", "us", or "our" mean NIPPYSKY. Reach us at contact@nippysky.com.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: email address (for magic-link sign-in) and an optional display name.
- Ledger data you enter: the people you record, debts, due dates, repayments and notes. All entered manually by you — and all end-to-end encrypted (see below).
- Preference data: your preferred display currency.
- Device data: a push-notification token, device platform (iOS/Android), and timezone.
We never collect bank credentials, card numbers, BVN, NIN, or any payment instrument data. Ụgwọ does not connect to your bank, and does not touch real money.
3. End-to-end encryption — we can't see your debts
Every ledger record — names of people, amounts, dates, notes — is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it leaves. Our servers store and sync only ciphertext; we cannot read who owes you or what they owe. Debt reminders are scheduled locally on your phone, so due dates never reach our servers in readable form either. Your email and display name are stored in plaintext because they are required for authentication.
4. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and sync your encrypted ledger across your devices
- To deliver notifications you have enabled (all reminders are generated on-device and can be turned off in the app)
- To improve the app using anonymised, aggregated analytics only
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. Reminder messages you share with others are sent by you, through apps you choose — we never contact the people in your ledger.
5. Data sharing
Data is shared only with infrastructure providers that host our servers (contractually limited to hosting), our email delivery provider (Resend, for sign-in emails only), and where disclosure is required by law.
6. Data retention & deletion
Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all data at any time inside the app (More → Delete Account) or via our account-deletion page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
7. Your rights
You may access, export (PDF statement), correct, or erase your data at any time using in-app controls, or by emailing contact@nippysky.com. We respond within 14 business days. Ụgwọ is designed to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and similar frameworks.
8. Children
Ụgwọ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes
We will update this page and note the revision date above whenever this policy changes.
